A Walk With The Good Shepherd

Passage: Psalms 23:1-6

Preacher: Rob Holster

Series: Summer in the Psalms

Summary:

Independence is such a great thing to celebrate––when it comes to our nation––and sometimes in our lives it's good to be independent. However, when it comes to our relationship with God, we don't want to be independent––we want to be in step with Him––and absolutely dependent on Him. For everything. That's when we have a fully functioning relationship with God––when we trust him for everything. David, the Psalmist, had an amazing relationship with God. He depended on God and gave him the credit for everything. He knew that without God he would be nothing. One of his greatest works is the 23rd Psalm, which we will cover this Sunday. In it he reveals what walking with the Lord is like. He uses the imagery of a shepherd and his sheep. The Lord is the Good Shepherd. He leads us. He takes care of us. We depend on Him. He leads us through some really hard times––but it's ok, because he's there––always with us. This is one of the most amazing songs ever written––one that is well known and memorized and recited over and over.
