Passage: Psalms 51:1-19

Preacher: Rob Holster

Series: The Life of David

Summary:

All of us have failed at one point or another in life. All of us have experienced falling short–missing the goal–giving into temptation. It's called sin, and we've all got the same problem with it. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23) We've been covering the life of David in 2 Samuel, and he certainly knew what it was like to fall short–to sin deliberately–and to experience the brokenness it inevitably led to. Thankfully and providentially, he wrote a song about it. David was a songwriter, you know--in addition to being a shepherd and a king–and a sinner. So we're going to look at Psalm 51, which he wrote during one of the lowest points of his life. It's a song about a broken man who just wants to be brought back into right relationship with God. And he's confident of that because that's how God is–He is full of grace.
