Passage: The First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians -1 Corinthians 14:40

Preacher: Rob Holster

Series: To God's Church

Summary:

This week’s message is titled “Decently And In Order”, from 1 Corinthians 14:26–40, and it will be the last message in the current series. After this week, we'll take a break from 1 Corinthians until Easter, when we'll look at chapter 15 on the Resurrection. The last part of chapter 14 is not an easy passage. It has been debated and discussed for a long time, and it can be difficult—even controversial—to understand and apply. Rather than avoiding those difficult questions, we want to approach this text honestly and humbly, seeking to understand what Paul wrote and why he wrote it. As we dig into the passage, we’ll consider what it teaches––about church, order, why we gather together, and what we gather to do. The goal is not to settle a debate, but to listen carefully to God's Word and allow it to inform us and shape us. We want to be built up and encouraged.
