Passage: Matthew 2:1-12

Preacher: Rob Holster

Series: Gospel of the Kingdom

Summary:

Last time we covered the birth of Jesus and what it means. It means that Jesus came into the world–God became a man–in a specific time and place. And not only is he God in the flesh, but he is also Savior, King, and friend. He became one of us–so that we can have a relationship with Him. He knows our weaknesses. He knows our problems. He knows what our trials are like. But he's not just a friend–he is our Savior and King, too. His righteousness is counted as ours, as our sin was put upon Him at the cross. And he came to rule–he came to rule in our lives. We can give our lives to him. Which is what the next part is about. Sure, it's about the wise men who were drawn to the newborn King, but it's also about the gifts they gave him. And how they represented who Jesus is–and what he came to do.
