Passage: Matthew 9:18-26

Preacher: Rob Holster

Series: Gospel of the Kingdom

Summary:

Life is full of interruptions. If only things just worked out according to our plans––wouldn't that be great? Why do people have to bother us with their problems, anyway? But what if interruptions are really blessings in disguise? Teachable moments? Times of refreshing? Opportunities for miracles? This Sunday, we're going to begin looking at a series of interruptions in the life of Jesus from Matthew 9. Yes, Jesus was interrupted, too. People came to him whenever they felt like it––whenever they faced a crisis. They still do. Every time we have a crisis in our lives we expect to be able to go to Jesus––and interrupt whatever he's doing––so that he can tend to our needs. But that's ok because he's always available and these interruptions are actually amazing opportunities to display the glory of God––to make himself known to his people. We'll look at two cases this week of Jesus being interrupted and how he handled it––and what we can learn from it.
