Passage: Matthew 17:14-20

Preacher: Rob Holster

Series: Gospel of the Kingdom

Summary:

This Sunday is Palm Sunday, where we observe Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, approximately a week before the events of his crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. What a week! We want to remember that week––as it marks the defining moment in history––where our sins were laid upon the Savior, and he accomplished victory over them––atoning for them––so that we might have forgiveness and life. It all happened at the cross of Calvary. So this week the kids are going to have a special presentation where we will remember that first Palm Sunday––and we enter into the week where our hope was made sure, and our salvation accomplished. For the message this week I'll continue our journey through the Gospel of the Kingdom––Matthew––where we'll cover the middle part of Matthew 17. In that passage, we're going to see Jesus calling out a faithless and twisted generation. Times were so bad that even the disciples––who knew Jesus intimately, and had seen him perform so many miracles––but even they had "little faith." I've titled the message, Little Faith in a Twisted Generation. Things have not changed––we are still living in a faithless and twisted generation––and those who believe are still called to big faith in Jesus. But are we living by that faith? Or are we suffering from what the disciples had––little faith?
