Passage: Matthew 7:21-29

Preacher: Rob Holster

Series: Gospel of the Kingdom

Summary:

In this message we'll study Jesus' powerful parting words from the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7. There are two paragraphs left and they exemplify the entire message––it's difficult and it's encouraging. He goes from telling those who thought they were in right relationship with God: "Depart from me...I never knew you." He goes from that to "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock..." and goes on to say that rain and floods and wind would come, but that house would stand. Otherwise we're only building on sinking sand. So what do we make of these statements? And these are the last words of such a profound and famous sermon––what do we do with it?
