The Glory of The Incarnation

The Glory of The Incarnation

Jul 27, 2025

Passage: John 1:14-18

Preacher: Kelly Graham

Series: Jesus, Incarnate & Divine

Summary:

These verses have enough to keep us here for weeks in and of themselves! The incarnation means to "dwell among us as one of us." This Logos, the one that has existed eternally, who is omniscient, has become one of us. This Word is not only like us in form but is in reality fully human, like one of us - Flesh. He was born, lived, and died entirely as one of the flesh, like us. “Since he came in lowliness, we have an example of the paradox that John uses so forcefully later in the gospel, that true glory is to be seen, not in outward splendor, but in the lowliness with which the Son of God lived among us and suffered for us." - Leon Morris However, that is not the end of the story. The story of the incarnation is life - new life in abundance. The story is of a new birth so that we may not simply know of God but be known by God. John will end this section with an incomplete sentence... This leads us to ask: Who is this Jesus, who is both God and fully man? There is a glory, a fullness we have received, grace upon grace—this Jesus who gives us undeserved Joy by bringing us near to God.
