Passage: Matthew 11:1-15

Preacher: Rob Holster

Series: Gospel of the Kingdom

Summary:

If you are a Christian and have walked with Jesus for any amount of time, you will face some difficult and challenging times. It's not an easy road. After all, it's the narrow way. Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few." Sometimes when we're on that path, we have doubts. It's not what we expected. But what were we expecting? Our passage this week and next is admittedly difficult, but it begins with John the Baptizer having his own doubts about Jesus. That's right, even the one whom Jesus called the greatest who was ever born, had doubts. This passage is important because we need to understand that our expectations may not always match reality. In these cases, we need to listen to God. Jesus says, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear." We need to mine God's Word and understand the truth about Jesus.
