Passage: John 1:6-13

Preacher: Kelly Graham

Series: Jesus, Incarnate & Divine

Summary:

This week, we will continue our study of the Prologue of the Gospel of John, Verses 6-13. We are introduced to a second John, the one who baptizes. However, John the Evangelist emphasizes his mission of being sent from God to be a witness. A witness to this Logos that is the True Light and the only Light that contains Truth. John, throughout his Gospel, will carry this theme of "witness". Each person of the Trinity—the Father (5:31-32, 34, 37), Christ (8:14, 18; 37), and the Holy Spirit (15:26; 16:14). The fourth is the works of Jesus, the sixth is John the Baptist, and the seventh includes the disciples and the people with Jesus. However, the greatest astonishment is not this witness of John the Baptist, but that He has come and dwelt among the people, the flesh that He created. This Logos, this Life, this Light, this Man who is God becomes flesh like us for life. The impact doesn't stop there. John tells us that those who "believe in His name - He has given the RIGHT to become GOD'S CHILDREN. When we believe in this Logos, in Christ, it's a status change. We have a new family, we have a new RIGHT, we have a NEW LIFE. We are "born again," as Jesus says in chapter three. Join us as we explore this incredible promise and gift that God Himself gives us as we transition from the earthly to the heavenly.
